How to get more traffic using Twitter For Business

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Web 2.0 property Twitter has carved itself a small media storm this year with a army of subject gurus mentioning Twitter on their podcasts , and business strategists saying that we can leverage Twitter to build thousands of followers , the talk about Twitter is hard to avoid . You most likely have friends and work colleagues on Twitter and your suppliers may have invited you to their Twitter profile . So the million dollar question is this . What are YOU doing about it for yourself?

A lot of people, actually I think most, don’t even “get” Twitter. And that’s partly because it can be many different things to almost as many people. And to some extent, they may even be all true, at least to that person.

But however you approach your Twitter strategy and there’s a great FREE training video about that at http://www.TrafficHug.com/twittervideo/ but whatever you do, you should be doing something. The smallest benefit will be extra chances for impressions , ideally with some way of people finding you by your keyword, or your name. I mean a few people are just going to wonder if your business (or you) are on Twitter and type in twitter dot com slash acme widgets. Now it will be embarrassing is a cyber squatter is sitting on your own name, so another good reason to make sure you secure your place in the Twit’o’sphere. (By the way things can be done about cyber squatters, just ask me.)

We have other articles on getting targeted traffic, but let’s look at something we can do today A right now We’ll take a more detailed look at targeted traffic but first let’s explore a quick and easy option.

A lot of people perceive Twitter traffic as being an internal affair . A concept most Twitter directories also foster. But in the real Twitter , the advantages of having your existing customers join you on Twitter are plentiful . So valuable that we need to do something about it now .

A very quick solution is to add a Twitter “badge” to your web properties . A badge is just an image saying who you are on Twitter with a hyperlink to your Twitter profile. In the videos I mentioned , you’ll see how , but let’s stick to a simple badge for now .

WHERE CAN I DOWNLAOD MY TWITTER BADGE ?
You can get your own customised Twitter badge for zilcho from this website ;
http://wwwTwitterHug.com/twitter/category/badge/ – FollowMe Twitter Badge .

You simply paste the HTML code it provides in to your website, store, or blog and your customised graphic with active link, will magically appear .

You can also paste the pure HTML in to most blog widgets. I’ve added them on all my blogs.

It is supplied in its own code block so should exist fine almost anywhere.

You can create an HTML table or div layer to house it, then you can just paste the code in in that place . With WYSIWYG html editors, there is usually an HTML “object” box you can place in the desired location and just place the code in to that. Adobe Dreamweaver users can just insert an AP Layer (from the insert menu) and then paste the code in to that using the HTML code view pane.

Integrating your Twitter page with your existing web properties is an essential strategy. One you can do in the next 10 minutes, with a few mouse clicks,
