Things to Know for House Training Your Dog

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

When the thought or the discussion of getting a new puppy or dog arises another thought comes to mind and that is how to house train it. House training is not all that hard but you will need to have a lot of time and much patience. When you are setting out to house train your new dog it is best to house train it at a very young age. It is possible to teach an old dog new tricks however it is a bit harder. You need to cater to your dog. You need to teach your dog how to go outside to use the bathroom the very first thing. It is best to stay on teaching your new dog house training before you teach it anything else.

Remember taht you will nat have results overnight. When you house train your dog it can take several days and in some cases several weeks, like dog psychology. Many dogs are very stubborn and they try to be the one in control you need to prevent your dog form thinking this way and you need to be the master.

Everyone that is around the dog everyday needs to be aware of what you are expecting of the dog. This is similar to animal psychology usually. If you are trying to break the dog of a certain habit and another person in the house is allowing it then it can make the dog a confused creature.

You will not see the results of any new lesson right away. You must be consistent and persistent. Sometimes people associate this with dog training occassionally. Your effort will pay off and you will end up with a dog that know where to use the bathroom and your dog will also know who is the boss.

Starting Puppy Or Dog Training

Monday, January 5th, 2009

If you’re looking to train your puppy or dog you may find yourself feeling somewhat overwhelmed. You’ll find lots of advice, much of it given by well meaning friends who really aren’t much better informed than you are.

To train a dog you’ll need a decent dog training collar so that you can restrain your dog when it starts getting over excited during training. Just something plain and strong is ideal for basic training. If your dog is the type that pulls when you walk them then there are plenty of specialised collars out there that are kind to use.

If you find that your puppy or dog is getting the better of you during training don’t give up. A trained dog is one that will be welcome in your home and a pleasure to take out with you. If you find you’re getting nowhere in your attempts at training then seek the help of a professional.

This can take the form of anything from puppy classes to a dog training school. Of course where you live in the UK can have a bearing on what sort of training will be available. If you’re looking for dog trainers in Cumbria then it’s most likely going to be fairly informal classes held at a local village hall. These can be great places as your dog can become socialised with a wide range of dogs whilst being trained.

If you’re looking for dog training in Essex and other more populated parts of the country you’ll find classes held in halls and in specialised schools. You’ll even find dog trainers who’ll come to your home and carry out one to one training with you and your dog.
