What is CoQ10?

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Common individual are really not familiar with CoQ10 or coenzyme Q. It is a rather technical term unless you have some medical degree or back ground in biology it would actually be difficult to understand. So let us try to simply it. CoQ is one of the substances found in your body and was only discovers in the late 1950’s. It was found out that this substance actually helps produce energy in your cells.

This means it plays a vital role in your cells and having a balance CoQ is desired. Simply put, since the cells of our body require energy, the organs that need the most energy have the largest concentration of this substance. Now as people grow older the levels this decreases from the organs and to help maintain the levels we have to consume products that have CoQ10 such as fish oil. This allows are body to compensate and get the needed amount that is no longer produced in the body.

This is one of the reasons why fish oil is beneficial to the body since the CoQ10 present is absorbed by the cells in our body that help boost energy production and maintain functions of the heart and brain. These days getting this supplement is not difficult as there are many health stores and companies that sell pharmaceutical grade fish oil food supplements. You can help maintain the levels of this coenzyme in your body as you grow older.

Aside from this it has shown promising results in the treatment of cardio vascular disease and neurological degeneration. Its properties continue to amaze medical professionals and those who are taking the enteric coated fish oil have seen considerable effect in their quality of health. They are shown to have better cardio vascular conditions thus help prevent heart attack or other heart ailment. This Is why it is often said that fish oil is good for your heart.

Detox Weight Loss Are They A Good Thing?

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

One weight loss strategy that is all the rage now is are fat burning diets. What are these plans and what do they do for you? The theory is that certain foods ‘cleanse’ the organs and colon of certain ‘toxic’ chemicals and substances. You often hear that there is a ’spackle’ of fecal matter clinging to the colon that harbors toxins.

If you have ever had a colonoscopy, you know that this is just not true. You get ‘cleaned out’ to undergo one of these procedures, and no doctor could do this test if there were pounds of ‘impacted’ matter in your colon. It’s a myth that this condition even exists – and doing this ‘detox’ can actually hurt your health. A detox diet plan is really not a shortcut for losing weight as some might suggest.

Truly, easy ways to lose weight are hard to find, and they can be dangerous. You really don’t have ‘impacted’ matter in your colon – ask anyone who has had a colonoscopy. This is a myth that is what I call ’sham science’. It sounds good and reasonable, but is just not true.

One of the best ways to lose weight, is to eat foods that don’t contribute to glycemic fluctuations, eat smaller portions more often through your day. You’ll get the benefit of a more stable blood sugar, and you’ll see weight loss as a bonus benefit.

How To Cure Gynecomastia Without Surgery

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

If you are a sufferer of Gynecomastia you obviously understand how horrible this condition is. It’s very difficult for men with this condition to easily join others in taking off their cloths and going swimming. For those people that have no idea what Gynecomastia is, it’s a condition where enlarged breasts grow in the chest of men, like it is with females.

This happens when fat and tissues build up to enlarge the breasts; leaving men with such condition really ashamed of themselves. Believe this or not, the condition of having enlarged male breasts is more common than one can imagine. Lots of teens undergo this condition during puberty but it doesn’t become an issue because it disappears on it’s own without any form of treatment. It’s also confirmed that elderly men have enlarged breasts as they age and add weight.

Don’t just shrug your shoulders when you notice you have enlarged breasts; it could be a sign of a worse condition – a tumor. There could be other cases where this can be a result of other problems like – a hormone-secreting tumor in other organs and the breast. Enlargement of the breasts is sometimes common with Klinefelter’s syndrome. You will know from an examination by your doctor if this enlargement is due to excess fat or something worse.

It’s obvious you now want to know what kind of gynecomastia treatment is available. When it comes to true Gynecomastia, because of the excess gland tissue there’s no treatment that really cures it, other than surgery. In cases of excess fat which is Pseudogynecomastia there are ways to eliminate the chest fat naturally. Alternatively, when the male breasts enlargement is occasioned by a medication or condition you’re suffering from, another medication can be given to you to counter the effects.

Since men with excess fat on their body, especially their chest region, are more prone to this problem, it will help if they do some form of exercise that targets the chest region — as a way of reducing the fat in that region. In addition to exercise, some natural herbs can assist in the reduction of chest fat as well.
