Sofa Beds To The Rescue
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009When your house is too small to house guests the answer is to use a sofa bed which takes no room during everyday living. Thankfully there is a huge variety of styles of sofa beds to choose from and in addition they can come as pull out or fold down types that create beds to suit your needs. A day bed is another option for a sofa bed as it is both a bed and a sofa at the same time and takes a regular bed mattress, which many guests will find very comfortable.
In addition to the space saving benefits of having a sofa bed many young people like to have one in their rooms to allow flexibility of having a sitting room or lounge style room rather than a traditional bedroom. This can also be carried over to a dorm room, which, in most cases, does not have space constraints, but allows college students to feel as if their dorm room is more than just a place to sleep.
Things have changed in the sofa bed world over time. In the early days sitting on a sofa bed was an ordeal and most were cumbersome and poor in sofa form, however, luckily progress in design and manufacture has produced a huge selection of products that are not only contemporary and beautiful but work well as both couches and as beds. Todays sofa beds are available in a range of materials and finishes, including leather sofa beds and the once lowly futon has recieved many a makeover and can now be found in apartments and homes everywhere, there are even full leather futons for the ultimate in chic simple sleeping and seating comfort.
It is not all good news with Sofa Beds as they do have some problems. Metal frame pull out models can be difficult to man handle into position and con often be uncomfortable as they the metal frame can interfere with the sleeper. Comfort can be regained in this situation by replacing the matress with a dedicated sofabed replacemant mattress or making sure you buy a great mattress with the bed. A fold out sofa has the misfortune of having a split in the mattress which will usually involve a seam where there really shouldn’t be one, a good quality mattress topper that covers the whole bed will easily fix this problem. Daybeds make great beds but not so great couches, which is why they are often relegated to guest rooms and kids rooms as opposed to a living area.
Sofa Beds For Sleeping – Sofa Beds For Sitting
Overall, most sofa beds offer great seating and mediocre sleeping. However, this will vary depending on the quality of the bed. Do not be afraid when buying a sofabed to have the bed part out and try it out for size, you will be spending a chunk of money on this and it is wise to know what you are buying.
