Thursday, September 24th, 2009It is important to buy caravan insurance because you want to protect yourself against the costs you might incur if your caravan is damaged accidentally or because of a fire, a theft, or bad weather.
There are several caravan insurance policies that provide protection for any kind of damage occurring from fire, flood, bad weather, accident, theft and other malicious damage to the caravan.
The possession in your caravan will also be protected; however, up to a certain limit, which will already be mentioned in your policy; and normally, it is just about 300.
If during an urgent situation, your belongings such as curtain, furniture, etc, are left in the caravan, then the possession will cover these. However, money, jewellery and other valuables are not usually covered under standard caravan insurance and should be covered under all risk sections of your household contents insurance.
It becomes your prime job to look after your property. Hence, if your property was rightly locked in your absence, only then it will be covered. In case you leave your belongings or property open under an awning or a toilet tent, then your property will not be protected under the caravan insurance.

There may be different requirements for the security of your selected caravan site in order for your insurance to be valid. if you want that your awnings should be covered against any damage, then you should surely pay some more fees for it. However, this is dependent on its usage. if you have been using your awning for more than 7 years, then generally, insurance companies do not shield it under a policy.
